NASHVILLE DATE NIGHTS
Nashville is the HOTTEST place to visit/live right now and we (John and I) count ourselves lucky to live in a booming city. One would think we'd be out and about nearly every night with all the fun that is constantly happening around town - however, our typical date night usually consists of a Friday night dinner at our favorite family-run pizza place in jeans and t-shirts. But, occasionally when something really cool is happening like a concert, sporting event, or show - we hit the town! Last week, a friend of ours was playing a show in town so we headed downtown to watch and support him. So, I'm sharing ALL the details about where to eat & play on a date night in Music City... oh, and you KNOW I'm sharing the outfit details too.
New restaurants are popping up on every street corner in Nashville making the dining options endless. But, one of our favorite spots for date night is Taqueria Del Sol in the 12 South neighborhood. There is only one location in Nashville, however Taqueria Del Sol began in Georgia and currently there are five locations through the state. You might be thinking, "Isn't this a chain?" or "It isn't exactly fine dining." You're absolutely right, but I've got two words for you: $6 Margaritas. Or is that technically three words? Whatever. They're so dang good! Taqueria Del Sol has figured out the perfect margarita blend. And the salsa? O.M.G. We always order the Salsa Trio Appetizer (and the Queso, duh.) which is basically tortilla chips served with a pico de gallo type salsa, a tomatillo green salsa, and our favorite: a roasted, smoky salsa. Talking about it is now making me crave it... BRB.
Not only are the margaritas and salsas REALLY yummy but the dinner menu is creative and differs from your typical Mexican restaurant. I'm talking fried chicken and brisket tacos, roasted chicken enchiladas with a lemon cream sauce, flavorful salads, jazzed up turnip greens, and jalapeno cole slaw.
We also love eating at Taqueria Del Sol because of the super cute neighborhood it's located in. The 12 South neighborhood is surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, bars, and Jeni's Icecream. Y'all - it's right across the street from Taqueria Del Sol. So, after dinner we take a little stroll around the neighborhood, window shopping & walking off our dinner, then we stop in at Jeni's for a scoop of Brown Butter Almond Brittle.
There is no shortage of live music venues in Nashville! This night was extra fun because we were out to see out dear friend play at The Sutler. The Sutler is situated right in the middle of town off 8th Avenue. It's sandwiched in between upscale dining, Sinema and brunch hotspot, Fenwick's 300. We enjoy catching a show at The Sutler because the food is delicious and they have excellent happy hour specials... hello, Tuesday 2-for1's!
